Yangruirui Zhou is a third-year Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) student in Computer Engineering Department, Boston University (BU). He got his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in software engineering (Elite Program) from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)" in 2020. And he was honored with the "Most Outstanding students of UESTC 2019 (成电杰出学生)", which is the highest honor for undergraduate student in UESTC.

In Boston University, Yangruirui is working with Professor Douglas Densmore. Yangruirui's research focuses on development of tools for the verification, simulation, control, assembly, and test of synthetic biological systems. He wants to promote the synthetic biology research by employing standardized control solution for the experiment systems, which is robust and reproducible. This leads to a new research area called “Hardware, Software, Wetware Co-design” by his advisor Prof Densmore. His recent ongoing project provide a method to quickly verify user requirements with given microfluidic devices and constraints, which can save amount of time, energy materials for researchers working on VLSI microfluidic devices.
